The British countryside is an endless source of inspiration for British designers and these beautiful felt pieces are no exception. With designs inspired from British flora and fauna the pieces provide a cheerful burst of colour, texture and warmth to any room. They are made from wool felt which is 100% renewable and sustainable.
Designed and made in Scotland by Sarah Campbell.
MaterialsThese felt pieces are made from 100% wool felt. Felt is made from matted wool fibres which are pounded and shrunk together using heat and water. As sheep are shorn up to twice a year, wool is 100% renewable as well as recyclable and compostable. Felt has natural fire retardant qualities.
PeopleThe felt is produced with no harmful substances in accordance with EU- directives. This product supports a Scottish designer maker.
Resources Traditionally felt was created by hand using hot water and soap to bind and shrink the fibres. Modern uniformed felt production involves the use of machinery but follows the same basic principles using pressure, heat and water. This of course has energy implications. The pieces are then hand-made by a Scottish designer.
Wool is a renewable resource. Sheep are sheared as a matter of course.
