Once you lie down on this mattress, you’ll never want to get up. Constructed without springs, its secret ingredient is the natural latex at its core which gently cushions and moulds to your body, ‘giving’ at the pressure points of shoulder, back and hip, for night-long comfort.

The Ramsey mattress is produced using high quality, natural latex, which has not been treated with fire retardant and is entirely metal free. The latex is then wrapped in several layers of organic Welsh wool and finished with an organic cotton cover.
Sleeping on latexSleeping on latex is a completely different experience to sleeping on any kind of sprung mattress. The absence of springs means that your body is cushioned gently by the mattress which allows the pressure points of shoulder, back and hip to ‘give’ while supporting the rest of your body. There is absolutely none of the movement that one experiences with springs, which means it’s extremely comfortable.
MaterialsThe mattress comprises of 90% natural latex which has been certified by Eko-tex and 10% organic wool and cotton which is certified by the Soil Association.
Eko-tex certification requires demonstrable proof of the safety of all products examined for the presence of harmful chemicals, while specifying guidelines for environmentally friendly production. The mattress cannot claim full organic status as the Soil Association certification process for the latex is still ongoing.
Organic farming practices encourage abundant wildlife that does not survive on conventional farms and has a low impact on the landscape.
The use of organic cotton helps to diversify demand away from the heavy reliance on conventional cotton crops. Conventional cotton growing is a water intensive and polluting practice requiring the excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides that strip the soil of nutrients and contaminate watercourses. Organic agricultural practice, on the other hand, encourages wildlife and biodiversity.
Natural latex is tapped from the trunks of mature rubber trees and reduces the need for its synthetic counterpart which is manufactured from finite oil based derivatives. Natural latex has a very high elasticity and is also very tough which makes the product very durable and hardwearing.
During the manufacture of the mattress, waste is kept to a minimum and all off cuts are reused, the cotton off cuts are composted and paper/card is recycled.

TransporationThe organic wool comes from Wales. It’s sorted, graded and washed and is then transported by road to Huddersfield where it’s transformed into the products used in the mattresses. The organic cotton is from India and is shipped to the UK by sea freight. The natural latex has been harvested sustainably from the Heava (rubber) tree in Malaysia and is also transported by sea freight.
PackagingDue to the high value and weight of the mattress a hardwearing polythene bag and cardboard box is used. Please make sure you reuse/recycle these. We are currently looking into alternative more environmentally sensitive methods of packaging this item whilst keeping it protected and waterproof.
