Who would have thought the binding used for books would make such lovely bowls? This nest of three bowls is made from buckram, a jute and hemp fabric traditionally used by bookbinders. What will they think of next?
Set of 3.
MaterialsThis nest of three bowls is made from woven jute and hemp stiffened with starch or glue. Each bowl is held together with two small aluminum studs. Both hemp and jute are sustainable crops, requiring no fertilizers or pesticides and minimal water (unlike cotton which is the most water intensive textile crop). Hemp is an excellent crop for creating sustainable farming practices and encouraging biodiversity.
PeopleThe bowls are designed and made by a UK designer based in Cornwall, supporting small local businesses.
Resources Hemp is a very water efficient crop requiring minimal water to thrive as a textile crop.
TransportationThe bowls are designed and made in Cornwall in the UK.
PackagingA plastic bag protects the bowls during transportation. It has a paper gatefold and paper instruction sheet. Please reuse and recycle all packaging materials.
Care instructionsThe bowls must be kept dry. Eventually, the aluminum studs can be recycled and the buckram can be composted.
