These cushions started life on the mountain plains of Chile. Woven from the fleece of traditionally reared alpacas, they combine a cosy, natural softness with the exuberant colours of traditional Chilean textiles.
MaterialsThese cushions are made from 100% alpaca yarn from alpacas traditionally reared and shorn in their native pastures in the mountains of Chile. Every step in the making of these cushions is respectful of the environment. The majority of the yarn is dyed using locally sourced natural and vegetable dyes and only a small proportion is coloured using synthetic dyes on a very small domestic scale.
PeopleProduced on a small domestic scale production, these cushions are made by artisan weavers in the north of Chile using traditional spinning and weaving techniques. They help support local communities and preserve traditional techniques.
TransportationThe cushions are made in Chile and are currently flown to the UK (a journey of approximately 7000 miles). At One Eco Home we strongly discourage the use of air freight and only make exceptions in our range for those products that have been produced using fair trade labour and that support remote communities. We are in discussions with the supplier about using sea freight.
PackagingThe cushions are protected during transportation with polythene bags and corrugated cardboard boxes. Please reuse and recycle all packaging material.
