Recent happenings at One Eco HomeThe last year has seen us not just launching new products but also consulting on all sorts of design projects. In April, we finished our first fully eco interior, which included everything from wall coverings to accessories, right down to the last recycled steel teaspoon. We’re proud to say it’s been commended for Interior Design of the Year by the British Homes Awards. In fact it’s been a year of short lists: we’re also up for the Barclays Green Leaders in Business Award, so stay posted! And we've also won a Times business award sponsored by the Cornish Enterprise for our support of Cornish small businesses and work with Living Villages in St Mellion near Plymouth. We're looking forwards to our prize which is two days of team building in Cornwall and some business advice from Tim Smit of the Eden Project and David Meneer from Jamie Olivers Fifteen restaurant.
Current show home projects include show homes for Rydon and Living Villages.
Other recent highlights include furnishing the Home of the Future at this year’s Ideal Home Show and furnishing the Zero Carbon House designed by architect Bill Dunster of Zed Factory at Eco Build. We’ve also contributed to two Carbon Challenge site proposals – one in Peterborough and one in Cardiff and we’re advising developers on how to win points in the new Code for Sustainable Homes.
We’ve been doing lots of education and awareness-raising too. Helen appeared on Grand Designs Trade Secrets last March talking about eco design, and we’ve given talks on eco design to the British Interior Design Association, and have run seminars at exhibitions Eco Build at Earls Court and Grand Designs Live at the Excel Centre.
